Burke High School's Drama Department was founded in 1964. Each year, Burke puts on one fall play, usually a comedy, a winter musical, and one spring play, usually a drama. Currently under the direction of Emily Mokrycki, we hold a high standard of excellence in the performing arts. We also have a very active drama club which hold numerous events like: A Trip to Vala's Pumpkin Patch, A Holiday Party, and Improv Fest. We hope to grow our family each year, and spread the passion of the Dramatic arts.
Our Drama club is the basis of Burke Drama. In this club we strive to be a family to all. Everyone is welcome to join in on the fun.
Our department strives to be a well-rounded theatre experience. We teach our students advance techniques in makeup, sound, lights, and set design.
Burke's Musical is always a great experience for all. There is a role for anyone, whether that be onstage, backstage, or even in the pit. Usually around the end of Feburary, the Winter Musical is the biggest event of the year.
Another benefit to being in Burke Drama is the workshops and masterclasses students get to participate in. Taught by broadway professionals, they learn new audition techniques, stage combat, dance and much more.
Burke is a proud chapter of the International Thespian Society. They are #4138. Being in this society has been able to connect burke to thousands of other schools, take workshops, and see shows.
